Even today's best hybrids run on electric power alone only for short distances and at low speeds; most of the time they're still burning gasoline. That is changing with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. These vehicles would have the ability to travel up to 40 miles at highway speeds on electric power before having to use a small gas engine for recharging. Battery improvements will make it possible for drivers to completely recharge their vehicle within one to two hours; well within the regular work day.
Propark has positioned itself ahead of the curve on this emerging technology and provides discounted parking for electric vehicles augmented by free charging spaces at all electric vehicle stalls. Currently, this progressive program is in place at the Charles Square Garage in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Neon Garage in New Haven, Connecticut, and has enjoyed positive feedback since its recent inception at both properties.
Propark has plans to extend the reach of the Juice Bars into other progressive markets, including San Francisco and New York City.
Propark recommends a 30% discount on the regular monthly parking rate for electric car parking (with free recharge station).
